Disney's new movie "the Princess & the Frog"...?
Does anyone else have a problem w/ this movie already? I am not happy that Tiana (formerly known as Maddy) is going to end up w/ a White Prince. I have no problem w/ interacial relationships but does Disney realize how very long we (by "we" I mean African-Americans) have waited for them to see the light and realize that We need a Princess that we can relate to as well? Every other Disney Princess was w/ a prince of her own race unless they were being historically accurate as in the case of Pocahontas. Why do they need to change their format now? Black Men can be just as "princely" as any other race. Eventhough we now have a Black Princess (after she marries a white Prince that is) we are still being cheated by not giving the young girls a positive image of a Black Man! So far all the Black men in the movie seem to be bad, there is a voodoo Dr., and a Plantation owner who is the father of a spoiled brat. Where is the Strong Black role model?
