Is is ok to for your dog to be an indoor dog?

well i have an english mastiff hes 6 months 110 lbs he is very very very gentle i like it that way I got him at 8 weeks old and he's been and indoor dog since just wondering is that why he is so nice? I dont want him to change if he sleeps outside.
