Do you think alot of mistakes have been made because people were too stubborn to change their mind?

and admit they were wrong? I have to admit when I was younger I could have easily avoided alot of mistakes if I had been willing to ess a situation and change my mind but I was was worried people would think I was indecisive and a flip flopper. I regret being that way.
