Tampon usuage hel[p me?!!!?

I 've started my period when i was 11 and im now 15 and still dont use a tampon. Next week I have to start swiming in gym and when i get my period which it just around the bend I dont wana use a tampon. I'm scared it will hurt or something. I've only used a tampon like 2 times and both times it was so weird and i didnt like it. So what do i do when it comes around please help me!
